Music on the Porch

Music on the Porch is nearly 1 year old at The Grumbles House; a collaborative effort with Sweetie’s Cafe who stays open 1 night a month to serve dinner at 6 pm (with reservation 216-2510). We love live music and know there is lots of talent out there, musicians who would enjoy the chance to share their music in a quaint, laid back setting such as ours. So, during nice weather, we land on the porch between Grumbles & Sweetie’s and when it’s hot, cold, rainy or when mosquitoes are out, we stay inside. We started in Jan 2018 with music the 4th Friday of each month. I haven’t been disappointed yet. Each artist, different but wonderful.
During the winter months and into early spring 2019, we will add the 2nd Saturday evening of each month. Same time and place, just more music. Meals are $15 per person and include a salad, entree, side, desert & beverage. Check with the cafe to see what the menu is. Or eat elsewhere and join us at 6:45 -7pm for music and dessert or wine & beer. There’s no ticket or admission charge for music but we do ask that you come prepared to make a donation to the artist. Somewhere between $5-$20 per person is customary but we’ll trust your judgement. Most of these folks make their living performing music. Some are retired or have second jobs but all appreciate being appreciated and compensated in some fashion. Music usually lasts about 90 minutes.
December 28 Artists are Pianist Bob Cubbage and Jazz Singer Valerie Levy
January 25 Orlando based Austin Palmer, BFA in Musical Theater from UCF, plays guitar & has a soulful voice that seems to find each note just right whether performing a Stevie Nicks or Elton John cover or sharing an orginal he’s written. Austin plays lots of Beatles tunes.
February 22 Orlando based Casey Brents
March 9 Kraig Kenning, Chicago based slide guitar player
March 22 Jimmy Brown aka Captain Key Lime, a Citrus County resident who plays most weekend alone or with various bands.
April we will change things up a bit due to Boomtown April 13 – there will be music on the street just steps from our doors and an out of town commitment for us Apr. 26. Dates & artists TBA real soon.
