We are excited about this fresh addition of Firefly mosaic jewelry to Cedar St. Boutique Spring 2021!  Vibrant colors & creative designs using

art deco and nature as inspiration give this line an artsy feel with a little whimsy thrown in.  Made in Guatemala by folks who traditionally (ladies) embroidered textiles and men who made fishing nets, the Guatemalan workers have been taught the new skills of jewelry creation.  With a strong eye for detail, these skilled artisans combine their cultural craftsmanship with passion to create the jewelry we think you’ll love.

Most of the jewelry is brass that has been silver plated and antiqued then embellished with Austrian Swarovski crystals, Japanese and Czech glass beads.  The ear wires are brass plated with German silver.

Each piece, unique in color and design, is a work of art;  whimsical, yet sophisticated, surely complimenting any attire.

For those who have yet to visit our crazy store, I realized recently that I normally show close up pictures of merchandise and you don’t get to see the full rooms, nooks & crannies and how they connect to each other.  Even though I don’t have all 10 rooms plus alcoves, closets & hallways here, I thought I’d show you a few of our bigger inside spaces and the variety of what is there to enjoy.  Each vendor has a different style so each space is unique.  From handmade, to upcycled from something they found, to

as found antiques and new trends and favorite lines, Grumbles House boasts a variety that appeals to many from baby to grandpa.

October 1 Grumbles House will return to our 7-days-a-week schedule of being open 10am to 5 pm Monday through Saturday and 11am to 3 pm on Sundays. Cedar Street Boutique will typically open at 11am but otherwise have the same hours as Grumbles.  Hopefully that gives our customers ample opportunity to browse both stores and the garden and then return a few days later with a friend or spouse.

We closed both stores March 23 due to news of Americans dying from the Corona Virus which was spreading indiscriminately in our nation.  After  building a brick walkway, replacing rotten wood, refinishing floor boards, taking down wallpaper and repainting the dining room – we realized garden centers are on the list of essential businesses.  With a shoestring staff, we reopened late April in the garden only 4 half days a week.  We’ve been busy (Spring is our busiest season of the year) and now we are putting things in place to open both stores tomorrow (June 2) on a limited basis to see how it goes.  We will be open in both stores and the garden Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday & Saturday 9am-3pm to those who will wear a mask and practice social distancing.  (more…)
