When you want a little something sweet to soften and complete your look, consider a light-as-a-feather floral bracelet from Cedar Street Boutique.  Just $12 each, they come in an array of colors and look great worn in your favorite combinations or maybe plain white for a wedding. Made of silicon rubber.  Wear in the shower, at the beach or in the pool.  Inexpensive & easy to mail.  Made in France.

Always on the Lookout for Something Different

As we shop for products for both stores, we aim to bring you unique, well made, reasonably priced, high style and a little wow factor.  When I found Batucada & Looksur Jewelry in January, I felt they checked all those boxes.  I thought it interesting that some of the pieces are soy based aka vegetable rubber.  The necklaces & bracelets are hypoallergenic and almost look like a tattoo against the skin. Beautiful earrings – some frosted, some polished – available at Cedar St. Boutique. We are closed for the curve crusher (Corona Virus) but just wanted to show you some of the cool stuff we have – so if we ever get back to normal…you might stop in and see us! OR, we’re happy to mail you a pair  ($48/pair) so you can play dress up at home . Hang in there!

The Creation Process of this Jewelry – Working as an independent artist in San Diego, CA since 2004, David Leight has created LeightWorks Crystal Jewelry.  He attended Pilchuck glass school, founded by Dale Chihuly, TWICE.  He was one of the youngest artists to ever attend the school.  There he studied the art of shaping & developed a unique style of cutting crystal based on his observations of crystal and ice and strived to exemplify their characteristics and enhance light in his creations

Using his original techniques, each piece of fine optic glass and natural crystal is hand cut and layered inside with precious metals to produce the iridescent glow of color from within.   Different blends of precious metals product different colors.  The pieces are frost or polish finished, then completed by handcrafting sterling silver and/or gold designs around.

All pieces are custom shaped to enhance the light and color; bringing style, simple elegance and an “Eye-Catching” quality to all who wear them. The pieces constantly glow and change color depending on the amount of light around the piece, skin tones, movement, or color of your clothing.  If you like compliments…you’ll love this jewelry!   (more…)

We sell LOTS of Euroscrubbies in the store so I thought it a MUST ADD to the website while the store is closed.  These are great to slip into a greeting card to send to someone you want to stay in touch with – or to tell them, quit sitting around in a funk, get scrubbin!!

Euroscrubblies are a multi purpose scrubber that makes clean up fast & easy. Made in Europe, they have an abrasive texture that won’t scratch surfaces.  They can be cleaned in the washing machine (with jeans and towels – not your delicates) or put on the top rack of your dishwasher for a cycle.  They are colorful patterns, so can replace your plain green scouring pads and last 6 months to 2 years, depending on how you use it.

So far, I just use mine in the kitchen on non stick pots & pans, glass baking dishes, on my stove top and another one to clean vegetables.  They can also be used in the bathroom on glass shower doors, tile, marble & porcelain.   Outside they can be used to scrub up patio furniture, clean the boat, the pool or your garden tools (who does that?).

As of Mon. March 24, we closed our doors to our wonderful customers in an effort to keep us all safe and to flatten that curve in our nation.  As much as we love to have you romping through our garden and great old house, we decided this was not the dress rehearsal – but THE REAL DEAL and too many people are dying to take this lightly.  We hope you’ll sign up for our newsletter (top left of our home page here at the website) and between that and our Grumbles House Facebook page, stay abreast of what’s for sale via mail and when we will open again and what we’ll have to offer.

Effective 3/18 our store hours will be reduced Mon-Sat. 10-3 for Grumbles House and 12-3 for Cedar St. Boutique.  The bulk of our business is being conducted outside in the garden where social distancing can easily be practiced.  We have gloves, hand sanitizer & Lysol spray available for staff & customer use.  Those who know what they want are welcome to call the store, place an order and we will pull order and call you back to let you know what time to pick it up.  We are also happy to mail gift certificates and other small merchandise for your gift giving needs or shopping pleasure.  Some merchandise can be seen here and some on our Facebook page.  Within the week, we expect to be closed altogether but  I am happy to still ship as long as I am healthy.  Thanks for reading and our best wishes for your good health!

Our son, Taylor Dane Myers, will be the Feb. 28 Music on the Porch artist.  And what can I tell you about his music?  I love it, but I’m his mom, so it barely counts.  He plays piano, guitar, drums and sings but I don’t know what he has planned for this show.  I do know he ordered a projector for himself around Christmas so I’m guessing he’ll incorporate that into the show and I think he’s always writing songs so my guess is he’ll do some old ones and some new ones but if you’ve never seen him play, they’ll all be new to you.  He usually throws in an Earth Wind & Fire or Stevie Wonder tune, something from Jason M’Raz, John Mayer or Jack Johnson as well as a Beatles or an old Andy Williams like Moon River.  (more…)

This collection from Valentina is great for travel as no wrinkle fabric makes it easy to roll and go.  The bright colors make sure you show up whether you’re out for the day or night.  Most of the prints are available in all the body styles; tunics in 2 lengths, jackets and dresses,  Pants fit like a glove and feel great on!  Some tops have matching masks!

Just 2 days after Christmas, we will be cozied up on the porch that connects Grumbles House and Sweetie’s Cafe enjoying the Americana Folk music of Terri Binion.  Her 1st time to Dunnellon as our guest but she’s been making music for many years.  You can read and listen to more about Terri at the Orlando Weekly links below.  In addition to music, Terri has enjoyed a career in costume design and wardrobe management.  She has several movie credits for costume design as well as music.
